Biographical information:

Cornelius Plantinga, Jr. (a.k.a. Neal Plantinga) studied at Calvin College (A.B., 1967), Yale University, Calvin Theological Seminary (B.D., 1971), and Princeton Theological Seminary (Ph.D., magna cum laude, 1982).  He has also been a visiting scholar at St. Edmund's College, University of Cambridge.  Formerly the pastor of the Webster (New York) Christian Reformed Church, Mr. Plantinga was Professor of Systematic Theology at Calvin Theological Seminary from 1979 to 1996.  In the summer of 1996, he became the first-ever Dean of the Chapel at Calvin College.  In January, 2002, he became the sixth President of Calvin Theological Seminary.  He is a former editor of the Calvin Theological Journal, and is now a member of the Board of Editors of Books & Culture.

 

Mr. Plantinga is the author of five books and co-editor of three.  His more than 140 published articles and essays have appeared in such periodicals as Theology Today, The Thomist, First Things, Christianity Today, The Christian Century, and Books & Culture.  A number of his pieces have won awards from such groups as The Associated Church Press and The Evangelical Church Press, and his 1995 book on sin, Not the Way It's Supposed to Be, won the 1996 Book of the Year award of Christianity Today.  Seven years later Engaging God’s World: A Christian View of Faith, Learning, and Living (Eerdmans, 2002) won the same award.

 

In the academic year 1999-2000, under the provisions of a Christian Faith and Life grant from the Louisville Institute, Mr. Plantinga was a resident member of the Center of Theological Inquiry in Princeton. Rev. Plantinga was ordained in the Christian Reformed Church in North America in 1971.

 

He is married to Kathleen (Talsma), a veteran of twenty-five years as an elementary school teacher.  Neal and Kathleen are the parents of Nathan, 37, a Grand Rapids attorney, and of Adam, 36, a San Francisco police officer.

Biographical information:

Dr. Stewart, a retired Presbyterian pastor and professor, has taught at Hope College, Yale Divinity School, and, most recently, Princeton Theological Seminary. He served as Senior Pastor of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan from 1974-1989.  As summer resident on Lime Lake since 1962, he is still perplexed by  the illusive ways of smallmouth bass.  He has led worship in Leland Summer Church for the past eighteen years.

Rev. Heisler is the Director of Connectional Ministries of the West Michigan Conference of the UMC.  He previously served as the Lansing District Superintendent for 6 ˝ years and as a pastor in United Methodist Churches in St. Joseph, Charlevoix/Greensky Hill, Lansing, and Mt. Pleasant.  Benton taught elementary school before entering the ordained ministry.  He enjoys carpentry/handyman jobs (especially repairing & recycling old “stuff”), camping, sports, and his family.  He and his wife, Linda, have two daughters, Kelsey, a recent nursing major graduate from Indiana Wesleyan, who was just married this spring to DJ Ikeler; and Hannah, a junior elementary/special education major at Indiana Wesleyan University.  Hannah spent the summer as a leader in a church camp on the shore of Lake Erie.

Biographical information:

Matt is the Lead Pastor of Dexter United Methodist Church, a growing, missional congregation. Matt is involved with World Methodist Evangelism, and leads worship for them on occasion. Matt, his wife Leigh, and their children enjoy being a host family for Healing the Children, bringing third world children to the U.S. for surgeries. Matt enjoys music, his folks’ farm in Maple City, and trying to keep up with his kids, Hunter, Jillianne, Graham, and Joy.
